Everitt Leon Shirley age 79 of Holton, Indiana passed away Monday evening, February 20, 2017 at the Manderley Health Care Center in Osgood, Indiana . He was born March 22,1937 to the late Joseph and Francis Young Shirley in Jackson County, Indiana. Everitt married Bonnie Jean Densford June 3, 1961 and to this union they were blessed with five children. Later he was married to Margie Shirley who preceded him in death.  

He lived most of his life in Crothersville, Indiana. There he had been a past 20 year employee of Farm Bureau Co-Op in Crothersville. He and his family had attended the Christian Church. His family stated that their dad had always been a hard worker and loving father. Everitt was known for his large and bountiful garden that he raised every year. Another hobby he so enjoyed was working with wood. He was very creative with his woodworking, building furniture and even a tread mill!  Before he had married, Everitt proudly had served his country in the US Marine Corp being discharged in August of 1956 and was also a past member of the Crothersville VFW.

Daughter's; Tammy Jean Speer of Indianapolis, IN, Tina Louise Wilson of Crothersville,  son's; Joseph Leon (Jean) Shirley of Holton, John Francis (Cory) and James Andrew (Amy) Shirley all of Crothersville. Five sisters survive; Mary Bell Hickerson, Janey Lewis, Jean Stark, Katherine Mantz all of Crothersville and Sherry Shirley of Illinois. Twelve grandchildren and five great grandchildren also survive.  He was preceded in death by one brother, Joseph Shirley. 

A memorial graveside service will be held Friday, February 24, 2017 at 11:00 am at the Crothersville Cemetery, Crothersville, Indiana.
