Kenneth Prickett Obituary

Kenneth Eugene Prickett, age 91, of Osgood, passed away Friday April 20, 2018 surrounded by his family at Ripley Crossing in Milan.  He was born on July 16, 1926 in Bethel, Ohio the son of the late Lawrence and Viola (Moore) Prickett. 

Kenneth proudly served his country in the United States Army and was a World War II Veteran, serving in both the Philippines and Japan.  Upon returning from the service he began his work career in 1946.  He was mainly in construction and supervision, working 40 years in the field with his last major job being overseeing the building of the Newport, KY High School.  He retired from Roy A. Miller and Son in Lawrenceburg, IN in 1981.

In 1947, he purchased the farm outside of Osgood and raised his family there.  He enjoyed the farm, from raising cattle to gardening.  It was said that his garden could have fed the entire town.  He also developed a passion for turkey hunting which saw him travel the country completing the “Grand Slam” of turkeys. 

Ken was a past member of the American Legion Post in Madison, and current member of both the NRA and NWTF.

He was preceded in death by his wife Virginia (Hallgarth), his parents and brother Donald.  Ken is survived by wife Ruth (Jenkins), sons Michael (Shina Murdock) and Mark both of Madison, daughter Connie (Edward) McLaughlin of New Port Richie, FL, step son Robert Day (Alison LaBonte) of Berkeley, CA, along with numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren.

Services will be held later with burial being at Cliff Hill Cemetery in Versailles.  Neals Funeral Home in Osgood is entrusted with arrangements.
