Cyril Joseph Duerstock, age 89, of Napoleon, passed away Sunday afternoon, July 19, 2026, on his farm surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on March 4, 1937, in Millhousen, Indiana, the son of the late Lawrence and Catherine (Menkedick) Duerstock. Cyril was a proud graduate of Napoleon High School, Class of 1955.

On June 2, 1962, he married Rita Thole, and together they were blessed with five children. In 1963, they purchased their first farm just north of Napoleon, where Cyril would spend the remainder of his life. Farming was more than an occupation—it was his passion. For 35 years, he worked at Bohn Aluminum while faithfully tending the family farm before and after work. Following his retirement from Bohn in 2001, he continued farming for another decade.

In retirement, Cyril enjoyed his well-earned afternoon naps and spending time watching ball games. He was an avid fan of Notre Dame and Indiana University. His greatest joy, however, was his family and the life they built together.

A devoted man of faith, Cyril was a member of St. Maurice Catholic Church in Napoleon for more than 60 years.

He is survived by his sons, Kevin (Cathy) Duerstock, Michael (Vicki) Duerstock, and Doug (Amie) Duerstock; his daughter, Jennifer (Brian) Williams; his grandchildren, Kristen, Rachel, Natasha, Travis, Caitlyn, Colton, Ellie, Annabelle, Kylie, and Kelsey; his great-grandchildren, Beverley, Ward, Owen, Brynnleigh, Adalynn, Julie, and Alanna.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by Rita Duerstock; daughter Tina, his sisters, Rita Young, Margaret Bedel, and Helen Tebbe; and his brothers; Norbert, Kenneth, Urban, Vincent, and Marvin.
