Nancy Lu (Barnes) Riechers, 75, of Osgood, Indiana, passed away on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, at Indiana Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.

She was born on August 18, 1950, in Auburn, the daughter of the late Francis Newsom and Nancy Romaine (Perry) Barnes.

Nancy attended University of Georgia, where she earned her Master’s Degree in Education. While living in Georgia, she met and married Keith Alan Riechers on April 11, 1981. Together they were blessed with four children.

Over the years, the family lived in Rhode Island, Oregon, Washington, and Massachusetts before making their final move to Osgood, IN in 2002.

Nancy devoted many years to teaching, spending time at Milan Community Schools and East Central High School. Following her retirement, she pursued her passion for creating floral arrangements for weddings and special events. She enjoyed working alongside Don and Shirley Dunbar, as well as with Rainbow Gifts. Nancy was especially proud to have completed arrangements for her final wedding just a few weeks ago.

She is survived by her children: Lutoria Elizabeth (Phil) Hebert of Kentucky, Ashley Faith (Lonewolf) of Greensburg, Matthew Alan (Hali) of Oklahoma, and Justin Brandt (Marisol) of Texas; grandchildren: Noelle Mae, Corinne Joy, Joanna Grace, Philip Anthony III, Zachariah Henry, and Rex Logan; and brothers Nathan Barnes and Albert DeVito.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Keith; her parents; her brother, Jim Barnes; and her sister, Corinne Barnes.

Visitation will be held from 3:00–4:00 p.m. on Friday, May 22, 2026, at Adams Lutheran Church. Funeral services will begin at 4:00 p.m. with Pastor Mark Booster officiating.
