William Edward Powers, age 82, of Osgood, passed away at Veterans Hospital in Cincinnati on June 27, 2025. He was born on August 29, 1942, in Columbus, Indiana, the son of the late Carl Edward and Mary Pearl (Cox) Powers.

After completing his education, Bill proudly served his country in the United States Navy aboard the USS Shenandoah. Following his military service, he continued the family tradition as a self-employed logger, working in the footsteps of his father.

Bill had a true zest for life and a passion for adventure. He was known for his love of the outdoors and could easily be described as a modern-day Daniel Boone. Whether hunting, fishing, or simply enjoying nature, the outdoors was his sanctuary. His hobbies included racing cars, playing music, and participating in demolition derbies.

He had a remarkable sense of humor and a gift for making others smile. Bill was the kind of man who tried to make each day better for those around him, often with a joke or a helping hand.

He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his brothers Harold, Francis, and Thomas; and sisters Anna Rhoades, Juanita Ziegler, and Kathleen Kappes.

Visitation will be held on Monday, June 30, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Neal’s Funeral Home in Osgood. A funeral service will begin at 2:00 PM. Burial will follow at St. John’s Catholic Cemetery in Osgood, with military honors provided by the Osgood American Legion.
