Kathryn Marie (Groves) Owens

Kathryn Marie Groves Owens, age 81 of Osgood, passed away Wednesday, June 9, 2021 at Margaret Mary Health in Batesville, Indiana. She was born May 30, 1940 to the late Roger Lee and Mary Glen Berry Groves Sr. She married John C. Owens on April 21, 1956 at the Wesleyan Church in Versailles, Indiana.

She and John raised their family in Osgood. Along with raising her family, in her early years, she worked 24 years at the US Shoe Factory. Kathryn was no ordinary woman, she was the epitome of a protector, a disciplinarian, and a friend. She sacrificed her wants and needs for her family. Her home was always a haven for her family. One of her favorite things to do was watching old western shows. She especially enjoyed Gunsmoke, John Wayne and Murder She Wrote! She was a proud member of the Osgood Christian Church. 

Survivors include in chronological order: son, Mark (Carol) Owens, daughter Mary Levi all of Osgood, son, Mike Owens of Miami, Indiana and daughter, Amber (Jairo) Lopez of Osgood, 7 grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren. Other survivors include special niece: Debbie” sisters-in-law, Luella Trueblood of Salem, IN, Georgia (Jerry) Adkinson of Elrod, IN., Beverly Owens of Osgood and Wynema Owens of Westport, IN. Kathryn was preceded in death by her husband, John, son Rodney, 2 grand-sons, Rusty and Mike Owens, along with 2 brothers Roger and Jimmy Groves, 3 sisters, Dollie Owens, Lillian Black, and Wilma Ake, and son-in-law, Chuck Levi.

Visitation will be held, Sunday, June 13, 2021, at Neals from 3:00 pm – 6:00 pm with funeral held on Monday, June 14, 2021 at 11:00 am. also at Neals. Burial will be at Greendale Cemetery near Osgood. Memorials may be given to Osgood Christian Church or the Greendale Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Neals Funeral Home. www.nealsfuneralhome.net
